Mission and Vision: The NLLC mission is to foster intellectual and personal growth through activities that encircle the social, physical, intellectual, communicative, and emotional (SPICE) domains of learning and becoming. Its vision is that with basic personal autonomy, appropriate future aspirations, and positive participation in society, all deaf young people can compete on equal terms with any successful hearing peers.
Program Activities: The NLLC activities are geared to the basic fundamentals of the concept of the book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective TEENS,” authored by Sean Covey. The skills mastered in these activities are utilized to help campers maximize their potential. They are trained to appreciate the power of literacy, empowerment, attitude, discipline, excellence, resourcefulness, struggle, humility, initiative, and perseverance as resources in the youngsters’ effort to become all that is in them to be.
